Types of Listening

As you begin your first reading Types of Musical Conduct, consider the following example of Bob Milne. Recognized as a premiere Ragtime piano player, he is also an unusually gifted listener. For example, consider his ability to hear music within the following experiment. Pay particular attention to the context of the experiment, how Bob describes his own experience of listening and how the others in the interview describe Bob's ability and perception of listening.

Considering then Adorno's typology - in terms of the differences between an "expert listener," "good listener," and "culture consumer," where do you think Bob Milne would be placed within Adorno's typology and why?
